* Gun Blue For Steel Touch-up or Complete Reblue
Birchwood Casey® offers you the best ways to touch up scratches and worn spots or even completely reblue most guns. It will give a non-streaky, even blue-black finish to steel (except stainless). Both Perma Blue® Liquid Gun Blue and Paste Gun Blue provide great blueing to metal that has already been thoroughly cleaned and is free of rust. Perma Blue® Paste Gun Blue is slower to darken than Liquid Gun Blue, but will build up a denser finish.
Birchwood Casey's Perma Blue has been the pro's choice for years in touching up nicks and scratches. Easy to use, just clean the metal surface and apply. Birchwood Casey® recommends using the Cleaner-Degreaser for cleaning the metal before application.
The longest-lasting finish, but slower to darken than the liquid blues. Easy-to-use Perma Blue® Paste Gun Blue reacts slowly with the metal but builds up a denser finish that will outlast the liquid blues. Excellent for touch-up or complete reblueing. Metal must be clean and free of rust to enhance and protect the finish. A dark blue colour may require three or more applications of Perma Blue® Paste, but each coat takes only 30 to 60 seconds to work. Apply with cotton swab. Complete instructions on each tube. |

Frequently Asked Questions
Question: Why is the Perma Blue not taking to the metal?
Answer: The chemical will not take to a metal that is not 100% steel. To confirm if you metal is steel place a magnet directly onto the metal. If the magnet does not stick the material it is not steel. Another reason that the chemical may not take to the metal is that it is not fully clean. For the best results use Birchwood Casey Cleaner-Degreaser. If you do not have access to it, ordinary dish-washing liquid soap will work as a substitution.
Question: How many coats of Perma Blue can I apply before it will not get any darker or better?
Answer: After 3-4 coats the metal will not get any darker or better.
Question: How do I apply Perma Blue?
Answer: Apply chemical cold using cotton swabs, synthetic brush or sponge. |

Birchwood Casey® - Cleaning and Maintenance
There’s a lot more to firearm safety than knowing your target and keeping your muzzle pointed in a safe direction. Gun safety begins before you chamber a round and even before you step foot in the field or range. It begins with equipment that is properly maintained and cared for. Gun safety begins with a clean gun.
A clean firearm is a safe firearm. A dirty, fouled action can cause jams, ejection problems, mis-feeds and even misfires. Always refer to the manufacturer’s manual before taking apart your firearm. Use the proper cleaning solutions for best results.
Heavy oils can gum up parts and cause jamming and ejection problems. Especially in cold weather, and general use, lubricants can cause unforeseen complications. All Birchwood Casey products are specially formulated for use with firearms and the environments they are used in. |
